Job summary

Ultra PCS Limited is seeking a Goods Inwards Inspector to verify incoming materials meet aerospace quality and regulatory standards before production release. The role ensures product integrity, AS9100 compliance, and traceability across documentation.

You will work with Supply Chain, Quality, and Production to maintain calibration and documentation systems, support audits, and contribute to continuous improvement in the Goods Inwards process.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a quality, inspection, or goods inwards role within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, specifications, and material standards.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace documentation requirements (CoC, FAIR, traceability).
  • Competent in using a variety of mechanical inspection tools and gauges.
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and documentation discipline.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional, visual, and documentation inspections on incoming goods against drawings, specs, and POx.
  • Verify supplier documentation such as CoC, material certifications, test reports, FAIRs, and traceability records.
  • Use verniers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM outputs, and calibrated equipment for inspections.
  • Identify, segregate, and record non-conforming materials per quality procedures.
  • Ensure inspections comply with AS9100 and customer/internal requirements.
  • Support audits with accurate inspection records and documentation.

Job Description

Eaton MSD Cheltenham are looking for a Goods Inwards Inspector to ensure that all incoming materials, components, and assemblies supplied to the organisation meet required aerospace quality, regulatory, and contractual standards before being released into production. The role safeguards product integrity maintains compliance with aerospace quality systems (e.g., AS9100), and prevents non conforming material from entering the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Verification
  • Perform dimensional, visual, and documentation inspections on incoming goods against engineering drawings, specifications, purchase orders, and quality requirements.
  • Verify supplier documentation such as Certificates of Conformance (CoC), material certifications, test reports, FAIRs (AS9102), and traceability records.
  • Use a range of inspection tools, including verniers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM outputs, and other calibrated equipment.
  • Identify, segregate, and record non-conforming materials in accordance with company quality procedures.
Quality Control & Compliance
  • Ensure all inspections comply with AS9100, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate and complete inspection records.
  • Maintain effective control of calibrated tools and verify they are within valid calibration periods.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and root cause analysis for supplier issues.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Accurately record inspection results in the company ERP/MRP or quality management system.
  • Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and communicate issues promptly to Quality and Supply Chain teams.
  • Maintain organised records of incoming inspections for traceability and audit readiness.
Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with Supply Chain, Quality Engineering, Production, and Suppliers to resolve inspection and documentation issues.
  • Provide feedback to the Purchasing team on supplier performance and recurring non-conformances.
  • Support continuous improvement in the Goods Inwards process.

Qualifications:
Essential
  • Proven experience in a quality, inspection, or goods inwards role within aerospace, defence, or precision engineering.
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, specifications, and material standards.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace documentation requirements (CoC, FAIR, traceability, etc.).
  • Competent in using a variety of mechanical inspection tools and gauges.

  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience with ERP/MRP systems.
Desirable
  • Training or certification in quality inspection (e.g., IPC, AS9102, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry such as aerospace, defence, or medical.
  • Knowledge of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies (5S, Kaizen).
  • Experience with CMM data interpretation.
