Job summary

Spire seeks a GNC/AOCS Engineer to own the design, integration and testing of flight sensors, actuators, and avionics peripherals. You will work across hardware, software and systems teams to deliver reliable attitude determination and control solutions for a fast-paced nanosatellite program.

You will develop simulation models, qualification processes and hands-on lab work, with a focus on scalable, low-cost deployment in a hybrid work setup in Glasgow.

Qualifications

• Experience with spacecraft attitude determination/estimation.
• Experience with actuators sizing, modelling, design and integration.
• Foundations in spacecraft attitude dynamics and control algorithms, emphasis on sensor ingestions and actuator command calculation.
• Hands-on with HW and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
• Experience developing software using C/Python.
• Familiarity with Linux development environment.
• Experience working with external engineering contractors.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, select, qualify and implement flight sensors and actuators.
• Develop and maintain 6-DOF simulation models for GNC subcomponents.
• Provide technical ownership of GNC avionics peripherals and improve reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineers to integrate avionics into the platform.
• Develop component qualification and acceptance processes; work in lab and manufacturing environments.
