Curia invites applications for a Microbiology Analyst in Glasgow. You will work within the Microbiology team supporting GMP-compliant testing of environmental and product samples, ensuring timely results and strict adherence to quality standards.

Training is provided as you progress in a fast-paced pharmaceutical setting. The role emphasizes high-throughput sample processing, accurate documentation, and collaboration with senior staff to maintain compliance and product quality.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a science related discipline, preferably Biology or Microbiology.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of GMP/ICH regulatory commitments is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Enumerate microbial growth from environmental monitoring plates and samples.
  • Identify microbes using Gram stain, spore stain and Vitek.
  • Sample process water and TVC/TOC and pH testing of water samples.
  • Environmental and product testing to support sterile IMP manufacture.
  • Download and assess particle counts.
  • Perform ‘at rest’ environmental monitoring.
  • Train and monitor gowning of cleanroom operators and maintain gown qualification.
  • Inspect and growth-promote pre-prepared and PST media.
  • Check airflow and temperature of incubators, fridges, freezers, and trend equipment.
  • Identify system failures and report to senior staff per SOPs.
  • Report OOS/atypicals to key personnel.
  • Provide good housekeeping and safety, including disinfectant testing.
  • Bioburden validation support.
  • Ensure completion and filing of certificates/reports per GMP procedures.
