Job summary

King & Spalding LLP in London seeks an experienced Tax Manager (VAT) to own end-to-end indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, coordinating with external advisers and leading a VAT team.

You will manage VAT returns, Intrastat, and compliance calendars, drive improvements, and provide practical guidance to Billing, Accounts Payable, and Finance. CTA/ATT or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of VAT or indirect tax compliance experience across jurisdictions.
• Strong knowledge of VAT/GST returns, Intrastat, and listings.
• Experience coordinating with external VAT advisors and audits.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage VAT returns across jurisdictions and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee European Sales Listings, Intrastat filings and other indirect tax obligations.
• Maintain VAT compliance calendar and coordinate with local offices and advisors.
• Review workpapers, reconciliations, and documentation for VAT filings.
• Lead the VAT Analyst and mentor junior staff; set priorities and monitor performance.
• Provide VAT guidance to Billing, Accounts Payable, Finance, and local teams.
• Escalate complex issues to Indirect Tax Operations Manager and implement process improvements.
• Support e-invoicing initiatives and maintain compliance documentation.
