Job summary

POLITICO Europe seeks an experienced Standards and Ethics Editor to lead on our growing team, ensuring integrity across platforms. This senior role collaborates with reporters and editors, addressing ethical questions as they arise and finalizing edits on sensitive content.

The editor will write and update newsroom policies and stylebook entries, aiding training programs and upholding POLITICO’s editorial values of authoritative, nonpartisan journalism.

Qualifications

• Written and verbal fluency in English
• Ability to calmly juggle multiple tasks in stressful situations
• Desire to collaborate with journalists across the newsroom
• Excellent judgment and reasoning skills
• Experience editing complicated and sensitive stories preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as a hands-on editor offering pre-publication guidance on reporting
• Provide a final edit on sensitive content
• Address and resolve issues related to our journalism after it is published
• Help research and write newsroom policies and stylebook entries
• Assist in designing training programs for POLITICO journalists
• Ensure quality controls are in place across the newsroom
