Job summary

Kraken, the global crypto platform operated by Payward, seeks an experienced Internal Audit leader focused on financial crime and conduct risk. You will drive audits across AML/CFT, sanctions, anti-bribery, and market integrity across jurisdictions, partnering with Compliance, Legal, Risk and Business teams.

This hands-on role demands 8+ years in internal audit or related roles, multi-jurisdiction experience, and the ability to apply AI-enabled auditing while retaining human oversight to deliver

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in internal audit or related financial crimes roles within financial services.
• Direct experience assessing financial crime compliance programs (AML/CFT).
• Multi-jurisdiction experience auditing across multiple regulatory regimes.
• Strong understanding of AML, sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption risks.
• Knowledge of conduct and market integrity risks, including market abuse and consumer protection.
• Proven end-to-end audit delivery: planning, fieldwork, reporting.
• Ability to assess control design and operating effectiveness in complex orgs.
• Experience communicating findings to senior stakeholders.
• Leadership of audit workstreams and engagement teams.
• Comfort operating across time zones with globally distributed teams.
• Proficiency with AI-enabled auditing and data analytics while maintaining human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Lead audits across financial crime compliance and conduct risk in multiple jurisdictions.
• Perform risk assessments to identify exposures and prioritize coverage.
• Design and execute tests evaluating design and operating effectiveness.
• Assess market integrity controls, including market abuse and surveillance.
• Shape multi-year audit plans aligned to risk profiles.
• Lead AI-enabled auditing to expand testing and improve efficiency.
• Manage audit engagements end-to-end: planning, fieldwork, reporting.
• Document findings with clear root cause analyses and workpapers.
• Coordinate with Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Business teams to implement improvements.
• Present findings to senior management and regulators where applicable.
