Role Purpose
The Finance Director provides strategic financial leadership to drive sustainable value creation and performance across the enterprise. Partnering with the CFO and executive leadership, the role shapes and executes financial strategy, ensures strong governance and risk management, and leads the finance and global business services organisations to deliver high‑quality insight, control, and stewardship. As a senior leader, the Finance Director develops and empowers a high‑performing team that enables both the business and colleagues to thrive.
Key Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership and Impact
- Shape financial strategy that supports the company’s long‑term business, financial and growth objectives.
- Act as a key member of the extended leadership team, influencing enterprise direction and resource allocation decisions.
- Anticipate market, regulatory, and economic trends to inform strategic options and mitigate financial risk.
- Engage externally with shareholders, regulators, banks, auditors, outsourced service providers and industry peers to enhance the company’s financial reputation and credibility.
- Demonstrate leadership by operating with a global mindset, long‑term vision, and strong business stewardship.
Financial Management, Controllership, Governance, and Risk
- Ensure integrity, transparency, and accuracy of financial reporting, forecasting, and analysis across all business units and jurisdictions.
- Safeguard assets through robust controls, compliance, and alignment with accounting, tax, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure robust processes and execution of financial operations, including treasury, cash management, payments and receipts, and statutory and tax reporting.
- Ensures corporate structure is optimized for long‑term value.
- Oversee enterprise‑level financial risk management, ensuring proactive identification and mitigation of financial & operational risks.
- Champion ethical financial practices, embedding a culture of compliance, accountability learning and development across the finance community.
- Demonstrate integrity and ethical leadership, building confidence and trust internally and externally.
Business Partnering and Performance Delivery
- Act as a partner to executive leadership to translate corporate strategy into measurable financial outcomes.
- Provide commercial insight to drive margin improvement, cost efficiency, and disciplined capital allocation.
- Support portfolio, pricing, and investment decisions with data‑driven analysis and forward‑looking scenarios.
- Enable effective performance management through clear metrics, benchmarking, and transparent communication of results.
- Influence across functions to ensure financial insight drives balanced decision‑making.
Leadership, Culture, and Talent Development
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high‑performing global finance and global business service teams that embodies collaboration, accountability, and curiosity.

Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
- Extensive senior finance leadership experience within a global industrial or specialty chemicals organisation, or other complex regulated environments.
- Proven record of strategic financial management, transformation leadership, and enterprise influence.
- In‑depth knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, governance and tax regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in investment appraisal, M&A, and integration of complex portfolios.
- Track record of leading geographically dispersed finance teams and developing future leaders.
- Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA) or equivalent; MBA advantageous.
