RoleOverview
ThesuccessfulcandidatewillreporttotheheadofglobalequitycompensationinSwitzerlandandsupporttheglobalequitycompensationmanagerintheUKwithalltaxmattersrelatedtoequityplans.Wewillconsidercandidateswithsubstantialexperiencein equitycompensationtaxcomplianceobligationsglobally,includingwithholdingtaxandsocialsecurityrequirements,expatriatetax,knowledgeofcapitalgainsanddividendstax,andadeepunderstandingoftaxequalizationandtaxprotectionpolicies.TheselectedcandidatewilljointheGlobalEquityCompensationteam,comprisingsixmembers,andbepartofHitachi’sGlobalTotalRewards(GTR)functionthatincludesapproximately30people.
KeyResponsibilities:
- Managetaxcompliancemattersfordomesticemployeesandinternationalglobalmovers(assignees,permanenttransfers,businesstravelers,andprojectworkers)acrossallcompaniesoftheHitachiGroupthatwilloperateequityincentives,especiallyfortherestrictedstockunitsplan(RSU).
- Upholdstrongcompliance,governance,andinternalcontrolstandards.
- Developandupdatetaxpoliciesandprocedurestomeettaxcomplianceobligationsglobally.
- Establishandmaintainthetaxpositionpaper,identify,andmaintainthecorrectwithholdingtaxandsocialsecuritypositionsfordomesticemployeesandglobalmovers.
- Workwithexternaltaxadvisorstoidentifyandmanagewithholdingtaxrequirementchanges.
- Actasadvisorandsubjectmatterexpertforequitycompensationincometax,socialsecurity,andfinanceandaccountingmatters.
- Improvesystemfunctionalitiesandinterfacestomitigatetaxcomplianceriskexposure.
- Createanddelivertaxtrainingandtax-relatedcommunicationstoequityplanparticipants.
- Workwithtaxadvisors,HROperationsandpayrollsgloballytoprepareforanddelivertheannualsharefilingsinallimpactedcountries,including,butnotlimitedto,theUKsharefillings,Australiaannualsharefilings,ChinaSAFE(includingtheplansregistrationwhereapplicable).
- WorkwiththeglobalequitycompensationmanagerandexternaltaxadvisorstomanagetheRSUgrantandvestingprocess,includingmonthlyleaversandtheregulargrantandvestingcycles.
- Workwithtaxadvisors,globalmobility,andpayrolltoprepareforanddelivertheRSUvestingcycleandtaxreturnseasonforglobalmovers.
- OverseethepayrolltaxfundingprocesswiththeglobalequitycompensationmanagerinJapan.
- Preparetaxpositionsimulationsandtaxcostprojectionsforinternationalassigneesandpermanenttransfersaccordingtobusinessdemands.
- SupportcorporationtaxreviewsandrechargeagreementswithJapanTaxandFinance.
- Respondtointernalandexternaltaxauditsuponrequest.
- Correspondwiththelocaltaxauthoritiesinvariouscountriestoclarifytechnicaltaxmattersifrequired.
- Manageemergingtaxtechnicaltopicswithinternalandexternalstakeholders,includingtheimplementationofcountry-specificequityplanswithtaxadvantagesifapplicable.
- Definethescopeandtimelinestodeliversignificantprojects.
- Managetherelationshipwithexternaltaxadvisorsandgroupcompanypayrolls.
- Comprehensiveknowledgeofshareplanpoliciesandpractices.
Projectwork:
Workwillinclude,butisnotlimitedto,identifyingandestablishingthetaxcomplianceframeworkandoperationalrequirementsforseveralequitycompensationworkstreams,suchasglobalmobilitypolicydesign,communicationmaterials,anddomesticandexpatriatetaxationmatters.Theincumbentmayalsosupportthewiderglobalmobilitytransformationprojectimpactingallgroupcompanies.

- Strongknowledgeofequitycompensationpolicies.
- Deepknowledgeofthewithholdingtaxprocessfordomesticemployeesandglobalmovers,includingincomesourcing,foreigntaxcredits,doubletaxationmatters,andtaxtreatmentpolicies.
- KnowledgeoftaxcomplianceandaccountingunderIFRS.
- Strongexperienceinworkingwithpayrolls,HRoperations,andfinancemattersrelatedtoequityplans.
- Previousexperienceinmanagingequitycompensationtaxmattersgloballyishighlydesirable.
- In-houseexperiencewithequitycompensationplansispreferred.
