Job summary

Heriot‑Watt University is seeking a Global Director of Research Commercialisation to lead strategy, governance and revenue growth across its global campuses. You will drive industry income, consultancy, licensing and spin‑outs, working with Research Engagement, Estates and international partners to deliver a cohesive, university-wide commercial agenda.

The role requires senior leadership excellence, deep knowledge of IP management, and the ability to build strategic partnerships with industry,

Qualifications

Substantial senior leadership experience in research commercialisation, technology transfer, corporate development or venture capital.
Ability to translate complex research into market-ready propositions and negotiate complex IP/licensing deals.
Strong strategic and financial judgement with budget/P&L ownership and equity experience.
Excellent influencing and stakeholder skills at senior levels across industry, government and academia.
Outward-facing, globally minded, with a commitment to a mission-driven university.

Responsibilities

Own the University’s global research commercialisation strategy aligned to Strategy 2035 and to the Global Research Institutes.
Lead the Directorate across all campuses within a globally integrated research and innovation business model.
Set and deliver multi-year targets for industry income, consultancy, licensing, equity value and spin-out creation.
