Job summary

Airwallex, London-based, seeks a Senior Director, AML & Sanctions, Governance & Policy to scale its global financial crime program. You will shape risk-based policy, set governance standards, and oversee enterprise risk assessments across regions while partnering with product, data science, and engineering to embed automated controls.

The role reports to top leadership and requires 12–15+ years in AML/compliance, with 5+ years leading global policy programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant analytical field.
• CAMS or equivalent AML credential.
• 12–15+ years in AML/financial crime compliance.
• 5+ years leading global policy/governance/risk function.
• Experience designing enterprise-wide risk assessment frameworks.
• Strong written communication and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the evolution and maintenance of the Global Core FCC Policy Framework.
• Define FCC governance model and risk management framework.
• Design data scoring models to identify financial crime risks.
• Translate risk findings into clear executive reporting.
• Oversee regulatory examination defense and disclosure governance.
• Drive a unified compliance culture and global training strategy.
• Support strategic FCC program priorities and improvements.
• Build and lead a high-performing global second line team.
