Pfizer offers a diverse and supportive environment with many opportunities to grow. Throughout this role you will have:

GCS brings a single commercial voice to R&D and provides strategic leadership across the full lifecycle of our medicines, from early development through to launch and beyond. Within GCS, the Global Commercial function defines the global marketing strategy for our medicines and how it is delivered around the world, working closely with Global Access Strategy & Pricing and the GCS Platforms, like Launch Excellence.

Our team is preparing for the launch of a potential first-in-class medicine, currently in Phase 3 clinical trials, for dermatomyositis and polymyositis. These are rare, progressive autoimmune diseases affecting the skin and muscles, where patients often wait years for a diagnosis and treatment options remain very limited. We are a small, high-performing global team that works across rheumatology, dermatology and neurology, partnering every day with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Insights & Analytics, our US and International commercial teams, and external agencies and vendors, to help bring this medicine to patients and support Pfizer's purpose: breakthroughs that change patients' lives.

Our placement year falls during an important period of launch preparation, giving you a front-row view of how a new medicine is readied for patients around the world.

This role provides a unique opportunity to be part of the launch preparation of a new treatment for people living with a serious and rare condition. As our undergraduate placement, you'll join us as a valued member of our global commercial team, working with experienced colleagues across commercial, medical and market access on the real priorities of a live launch programme.

You’ll start by owning well-defined tasks and, as your confidence and experience grow, take on more. Along the way you’ll build the skills that matter in any business career: organising and coordinating projects, communicating with colleagues and external partners, working with numbers and budgets, researching and summarising information, and working effectively in a global, virtual, cross-functional team. You will also develop core marketing capabilities; understanding customers and the market, shaping how a brand is positioned, and bringing creativity to the way insights and ideas are turned into compelling materials. You will also see first‑hand how commercial, medical and access teams work together to prepare a new medicine for launch.

Type of person we are looking for
  • Completing placement as part of University Degree either through Year In Industry/Industrial Placement or Gap Year
  • AI Literate
  • Studying Business, Marketing, Economics, Life Sciences, Pharmacy or a related subject (other disciplines welcome)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrable AI fluency
  • Confident using Excel and PowerPoint, and comfortable working with numbers
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • Curious and analytical, able to summarise information clearly
  • Ability to identify what is most important and prioritise several tasks accordingly
  • Collaborative mindset, comfortable working in a global, virtual team
  • Shows initiative and is eager to learn and take on new challenges
  • Motivated by Pfizer's purpose: breakthroughs that change patients' lives
What can I achieve and what will I be accountable for whilst completing a placement at Pfizer?
  • Presented your own work to senior leaders across the US and International teams
  • Attended EULAR#####7, Europe's largest rheumatology congress, with the team
  • Owned the competitive intelligence summaries the team relies on to understand the market
  • Developed marketing fundamentals; insight, positioning, messaging and creative development, through Marketing Academy and hands‑on work on a live launch
  • Learned how a multi‑million launch budget is planned and controlled
  • Built a portfolio of tangible contributions you can talk about in any graduate interview

By the end of the year, you will have:

Pfizer offers a diverse and supportive environment with many opportunities to grow and develop. This is a great chance to be part of the bigger picture, to understand how the pharmaceutical industry works and the range of careers it offers, and to finish the year with a portfolio of tangible contributions to a live launch programme.
