Reuters is seeking a forward-thinking and highly collaborative Global Audience Editor to lead a portfolio at the center of our digital transformation and subscription strategy. This leadership role will oversee key audience-facing disciplines—including newsletters, SEO, community engagement and audience strategists—and set the strategy for growing Reuters’ global audience, deepening engagement and building lasting reader relationships.

The ideal candidate combines strong editorial instincts with a sophisticated understanding of audience behavior, platform strategy and digital storytelling. Just as important, they will be a skilled newsroom partner—working closely with editors, correspondents, visuals teams, product colleagues and newsroom leaders to shape coverage for digital audiences while reinforcing Reuters’ core journalistic mission and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Global audience strategy: Lead and unify Reuters’ audience development strategy across social media, newsletters, search, community and audience insights to drive sustainable growth, loyalty and engagement.
• Newsroom partnership: Build trusted relationships with editors, journalists and newsroom leaders, shaping coverage plans and digital storytelling so audience considerations are embedded from the outset.
• Audience intelligence: Use audience data, performance insights and evolving reader behaviors to inform editorial decisions, identify opportunities and advise newsroom leaders on platform and engagement strategy.
• Team leadership: Manage, mentor and develop a global team of editors, strategists and platform specialists, creating a collaborative culture focused on impact, experimentation and learning.
• Direct audience relationships: Oversee newsletter strategy, optimization and segmentation and shape community engagement around major coverage, live journalism and Reuters events, including Reuters NEXT.
• Cross-functional delivery: Partner across editorial, product, visuals, video, audio and commercial teams to create cohesive audience experiences and strengthen direct relationships with readers.
• Search and innovation: Lead search engine optimization strategy in the AI age and encourage responsible experimentation with emerging platforms, formats and artificial intelligence while safeguarding Reuters’ journalistic standards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Significant experience leading audience, digital or editorial teams within a major newsroom or media organization.
• Audience expertise: Deep knowledge of social platforms, newsletters, search engine optimization and audience analytics, together with a strong understanding of subscriptions, reader engagement and audience growth.
• Data-informed strategy: Demonstrated ability to use audience data and performance insights to guide editorial strategy and newsroom decision-making.
• Editorial judgment: Excellent news judgment and a clear commitment to Reuters’ standards and journalistic values.
• Leadership: Proven ability to lead global teams, collaborate across time zones and coverage areas and influence stakeholders in a complex newsroom.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cross-functional experience: Experience partnering with product, visual journalism, video, audio, events or commercial teams to develop cohesive audience experiences.
• Community and live journalism: Experience building reader communities or developing engagement around live journalism and major events.
• Emerging technology: A forward-looking mindset and curiosity about emerging platforms, formats, audience behaviors and responsible artificial intelligence.
