A leading information and publishing firm in London is looking for a Global Account Manager to manage strategic accounts within the banking and financial services sector. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of B2B subscription sales, exceptional account management skills, and strong relationships within investment banks. Reporting to the VP of Global Accounts the Global Account Manager (GAM) is responsible for both retention and growth across an assigned set of customers that are among the most strategic and complex within the Dow Jones portfolio.
You will initiate sales activity with new buying centres while also having responsibility for the stability of the account relationship. Having the ability to develop great business relationships across multiple levels including C suite is crucial to the success of this role.
You will implement sales strategies and best practices across the full suite of Dow Jones services to achieve revenue goals. You will have the capacity to anticipate market trends and decipher the impact for both Dow Jones and its partners. The position is seen as an expert in driving and influencing both short and long-term strategies.
DEVELOP NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES - Create new streams of Dow Jones revenue within the banking and financial services sector including global investment banks asset managers and Big 4 consultancies. Use market analysis to identify opportunities and implement a plan to grow your territory by positioning the complete suite of Dow Jones products to address the evolving needs of the financial community.
RELATIONSHIPS - Build and deepen relationships with senior-level decision makers at major banks, global financial institutions and professional services firms. Leverage these relationships to retain existing business and identify expansion opportunities.
ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT - Lead strategic account planning and management for key financial services clients. Understand their businesses competitive landscape regulatory drivers and emerging needs. Resolve issues promptly and position Dow Jones solutions as integral to their workflows.
RETENTION - Work collaboratively to maintain and grow Dow Jones contract revenue within your assigned portfolio of banking and consulting clients. Ensure our products and services remain essential to their success.
SALES REPORTING - Prepare accurate revenue forecasts each month for presentation to the Sales Director. Demonstrate a clear understanding of the banking pipeline and deal cycles.
RESOURCE MANAGEMENT - Organise and co‑coordinate the efforts of other departments (Product Marketing, Customer Service, Editorial) to meet the complex requirements of global financial services clients.
PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE - Communicate the value proposition and benefits of Dow Jones assets to banking and advisory clients. Tailor product positioning to address use cases across risk, compliance, capital markets and strategic decision‑making.
MANAGE ACCOUNT INFORMATION - Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records in the global CRM system to ensure visibility of activities across complex multi‑region banking accounts.
COMPETITIVE INTELLIGENCE - Stay informed of banking industry trends, regulatory changes and competitor offerings. Represent Dow Jones at relevant financial services networking events and industry forums.
Proven success managing large global banking or consulting accounts requiring complex integrated solution strategies.
Experience in B2B subscription sales within the banking, financial services or professional services (Big 4) industries.
A strong network within investment banks, asset managers or consultancy firms.
Track record of new business acquisition and revenue growth in a demanding competitive environment.
Negotiation and closing skills to manage opportunities within global accounts to successful outcomes.
Ability to prioritise key financial services accounts and deliver excellent levels of account management.
Adaptable communication style to engage effectively with senior banking executives, risk/compliance leaders and consultants.
Strong cultural awareness and ability to work across diverse international markets.
Ownership mindset with ability to co‑coordinate cross‑functional resources to solve client challenges.
High level of commercial and financial market awareness to identify opportunities and articulate Dow Jones value proposition in the context of the banking industry.
