Job description
Overview

The University of Manchester Genome Editing Unit (GEU) core facility provides a number of services and is responsible for the generation of custom transgenic mice and genetically modified cell lines, mainly by applying CRISPR-Cas9 mediated gene editing. We work with several research groups in a variety of fields to support experimental model development and provide guidance in the application of the latest molecular technologies.

Responsibilities

The technician role will be predominately lab based, associated with the cell line engineering services of the GEU. You would provide support to specific research projects, aiding reagent construction and preparation, and the genetic engineering of cultured mammalian cells. The ability to plan, prioritise and schedule work is essential.

Qualifications

You should have significant relevant experience including mammalian cell culture and a wide range of molecular biology skills. Importantly, you should have enthusiasm for scientific research, the confidence and ability to acquire additional skills where necessary, and the motivation to work reliably and independently.
