Overview

Habs has been awarded Independent School of the Year 2025, with Haberdashers' Elstree Schools receiving both the award for Outstanding Educational Partnerships and the overall top accolade of Independent School of the Year 2025. It is an exciting time to join our community. We are seeking a German Oral Assistant to support the delivery of outstanding spoken German across the school. The role focuses on developing pupils' confidence, fluency, and spontaneity, and preparing pupils for CIE iGCSE and AQA A-Level oral examinations in a high-achieving school.

Hours

Seven 30‑minute sessions per week over four days (Monday‑Friday), 33 weeks during term time (Hours are reviewed each academic year).

Salary

£20.88 gross per 30‑minute session (including holiday pay).

Key Responsibilities
  • Oral Teaching Deliver weekly GCSE and A-Level conversation sessions. Develop pronunciation, confidence, and fluency. Prepare pupils for oral examinations.
  • Resources and Curriculum Reinforce classroom learning and exam topics. Source authentic cultural materials. Promote consistent use of spoken German.
  • Monitoring and Communication Provide feedback in line with mark schemes. Record progress, attendance, and punctuality. Liaise effectively with teaching staff.
  • Collaboration Work closely with the German Department and Oral Assistants. Support language events, trips, and interventions. Undertake other reasonable duties as required.
