Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer (Ground Investigation) to join a UK-wide ground investigation specialist. You will supervise fieldwork, oversee boreholes and trial pits, and produce technical reports for clients across the UK.

The role requires UK site experience, a degree in Geology, Earth Science or Civil Engineering, and a willingness to travel with regular nights away from home. There is clear progression toward a supervisory position and chartership support.

Are you a Geotechnical Engineer with experience in ground investigations, looking to take the next step in your career and progress into a supervisory position?

In this role, you will carry out ground investigations across various UK sites, overseeing drilling works, logging soil and rock samples, coordinating site activities and preparing technical reports. This is a site-based role involving regular UK travel and multiple nights staying away from home.

This role would suit a Geotechnical Engineer, Engineering Geologist or Ground Investigation Engineer with UK site experience, looking to develop their technical skills, take on more responsibility and progress towards a supervisory role within an established company.

The Role:

• Carry out and supervise ground investigations across UK sites

The Person:

• Previous UK ground investigation site experience


• Degree in Geology, Earth Science, Civil Engineering or similar

• Full UK driving licence and happy with regular travel
