Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Colchester is seeking a Geoenvironmental Engineer to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy. You will work on geoenvironmental and ground engineering projects across residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments, with both site and office duties.

You will assist with investigations, logging, sampling, and reporting, while developing skills in remediation, validation, and project coordination within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Geology, Environmental Science, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience within a geoenvironmental or geotechnical consultancy environment.
• Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking Preliminary Risk Assessments (Phase 1 Desk Studies) and intrusive ground investigations.
• Assisting with planning and supervision of Phase 2 site investigations.
• Carrying out soil and rock logging, groundwater and gas monitoring, and sampling activities.
• Supervising drilling rigs, excavation works, and subcontractors on site.
• Coordinating laboratory testing and interpreting geotechnical and environmental data.
• Assisting with geotechnical assessments including settlement and earthworks evaluations.
• Supporting remediation projects and validation works.
• Preparing technical reports including factual, interpretative, and remediation reports.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators, and multidisciplinary design teams.
• Ensuring all site activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety and environmental regulations.
