Job summary

Kiwa CMT is seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer in the United Kingdom to manage and deliver contaminated land projects, including site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation reporting. You will deliver high standards safely and efficiently, liaise with clients and regulators, and mentor junior colleagues.

The role involves ownership of projects, travel across sites, and providing technical guidance while maintaining quality and safety across activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science) or equivalent experience.
  • Full UK driving licence with willingness to travel frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects and ensure delivery to high standards and timescales.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, subcontractors and internal teams.
  • Prepare quotations, process orders and schedule project work.
  • Undertake soil and groundwater sampling and monitoring.
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure H&S compliance.
  • Prepare samples and coordinate laboratory testing.
  • Produce Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports, remediation strategies and verification reports.
  • Assess analytical results and provide guidance to juniors.

Job Summary

Do you have a background in contaminated land investigation and assessment? Kiwa CMT is looking for a Geo-Environmental Engineer to manage and deliver a variety of geo-environmental projects, including site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, waste assessments and technical reporting. You'll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

About the role
  • Take ownership of projects, ensuring delivery to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Liaise with clients, stakeholders, regulators, subcontractors, and internal teams.
  • Prepare detailed quotations, process orders, and schedule project work.
  • Undertake soil and groundwater sampling, and ground gas and groundwater monitoring.
  • Supervise subcontractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements and project specifications.
  • Prepare samples and coordinate chemical and geotechnical laboratory testing.
  • Produce Phase 1 and Phase 2 reports, Remediation Strategies, and Verification/Validation reports.
  • Assess and interpret analytical results, including human health and waste assessments.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior colleagues to aid their development.
  • Maintain sample storage facilities and update tracking systems and databases.
  • Maintain high standards of site and laboratory working practices at all times.
Do you have what it takes?
  • Degree in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. geology, geotechnics, hydrogeology, chemistry, environmental science) or equivalent experience
  • Full UK driving licence (essential) with w illingness to travel frequently if and when needed
  • Working toward chartership with evidence of ongoing CPD maintenance
  • Demonstrate a proven track record in contaminated land investigation and assessment with knowledge and experience in Phase 1 Desk Studies, Phase 2 Site Investigations, options appraisals and remediation design, supervision and verification/validation for a range of different types of projects and clients
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of project management of contaminated land and brownfield projects
  • An understanding of WM3 and experience in waste assessment using HazWasteOnline
  • Experience using HoleBASE software
  • Proficient at logging soil and rock to BS5930:2015+A1:2020
  • Relevant H&S training, e.g. CSCS, manual handling, asbestos awareness
  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal relations at all levels
