Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Geo-Environmental Consultant to join the Sustainable Land and Resource Management team in the North East (Newcastle or Stockton). You will support contaminated land and hydrogeological projects, develop robust site models, and work with a multidisciplinary team across the UK.

The role offers hybrid working and opportunities for CPD and career progression within a world-renowned design, engineering and project management consultancy.

Qualifications

  • Degree in an engineering or science subject (e.g. Civil, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography).
  • MSc or PhD preferable.
  • Actively working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
  • Post-graduate experience in geo-environmental fields.
  • Experience in designing/managing ground investigations and health & safety requirements.
  • Experience with NEC4 Site Supervisor role preferable.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Organising, supervising and checking site works (including contractors) and managing HS requirements.
  • Digital and technical input to contaminated land and hydrogeological projects, including site investigation design and interpretation, and development of robust CSMs.
  • Collaborate with contaminated land technical leads and other disciplines to win/deliver projects and develop client relationships.
  • Liaise with clients, regulators, sub-contractors and internal teams.
  • Work with other technical disciplines in SL RM to deliver groundwater and contaminated land projects.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationships to secure repeat business.
  • Develop competence and CPD with support for training and development.

We are looking for someone to join our successful Sustainable Land and Resource Management (SL&RM) team in delivering a growing portfolio of projects. You will work closely with our technical specialists who are based in our established teams across the UK. We have a friendly and approachable team with a strong reputation for delivering excellence with multiple clients.

Your role
  • Organising, supervising and checking site works (including contractors) and the preparation and management of appropriate H&S requirements.
  • Digital and technical input to projects supporting the delivery of contaminated land and hydrogeological projects, including site investigation design and interpretation, and development of robust conceptual site models.
  • Work with our contaminated land technical leads and other technical disciplines in winning, delivering and managing our portfolio of geo-environmental projects, and developing trusted client relationships.
  • Liaison with client, stakeholders, regulators, sub-contractors and other internal disciplines.
  • Work collaboratively with other technical disciplines in the SL&RM team and beyond, delivering a range of projects relating to groundwater and contaminated land.
  • Maintain excellent professional relationships which will lead to and secure repeat business.
  • Developing own competence and maintain CPD necessary to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, with support from the business on own training and development needs.
About you
  • Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science subject (e.g. Civil Engineering, Geology, Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geography).
  • MSc or PhD in a relevant subject is preferable.
  • Actively working towards chartership with a relevant professional body.
  • Relevant years of post-graduate experience.
  • Experienced in designing and managing ground investigations, managing health and safety requirements as well as technical report writing.
  • Experience of the NEC4 Site Supervisor role would be preferable.
  • Full UK driving licence.
