Generator Service Technician

Location: Hilliard, OH

Salary: $25-$42/hour

Generator Service Technician / Field Service Engineer will be joining an established power solutions service provider with decades of experience in the generator and standby power industry.

The Generator Service Technician / Field Service Engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing power generation systems, including diesel, natural gas, and standby generators, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation for clients across commercial and industrial sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Service, repair, and maintain standby power generators and associated systems (8.5kW–3500kW range).
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and rebuilds on diesel and natural gas engines.
  • Conduct failure analysis, emergency call-outs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect and repair supporting systems, including fuel, cooling, and electrical systems.
  • Operate load banks and accurately record test results.
  • Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and inventory to a professional standard.
  • Stay current with product updates, manufacturer guidelines, and safety procedures.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience servicing generator systems or similar power equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel engines, control panels, and electrical circuitry.
  • EGSA Certification preferred (not required).
  • Familiar with computer-based diagnostic tools and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record.
  • Ability to work independently and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
