Job description

We are currently seeking a dedicated Generator Mechanic to join the engineering team at the Equipment Support Facility in Swindon. The Generator Mechanic will report to the Spares and Repair Manager and play a pivotal role in inspecting equipment returning from loan and ensuring Portable Electrical Generation equipment meets safety standards for field reuse.

Responsibilities
  • Produce survey reports and conduct maintenance and servicing.
  • Provide technical support to other trades regarding fault investigation and generator-related matters.
  • Conduct training and mentoring of apprentices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations, COSHH, Engineering Hygiene, Risk Assessments, and safe working practices in a hazardous environment.
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks aligned with your knowledge, experience and position.
Qualifications
  • Recognised and accredited trade qualifications of City & Guilds standards or above.
  • Proficient in fault finding and diagnostic abilities on both mechanical and electrical components.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Competent computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, MS Teams), and the ability to learn new software systems.
  • Proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities.
  • Capable of completing essential paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
