Job summary

Sharper Consulting Services seeks Environmental Health Officers for three posts across Dunoon, Lochgilphead and Oban. Hybrid work with base in Dunoon/Lochgilphead/Oban; 28–35 hours per week.

Travel for site visits essential; ASAP start on a 4-month contract with possible extension. Key duties include responding to nuisance complaints, reviewing noise-related planning, and enforcing food safety and licensing regimes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience working with a local authority or agency in a similar EH role.
• Experience handling complaints related to statutory nuisances (noise, odour, drainage, waste).
• Familiarity with licensing, food safety enforcement and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Respond to complaints on statutory nuisances and conduct site visits as required.
• Review planning applications related to noise and acoustics.
• Work with businesses on licences for commercial use and food safety issues.
• Carry out EH inspections and handle general environmental health service requests.
