Job summary

Pulse Healthcare in Portsmouth is seeking an experienced General Sonographer to join our imaging team. You will perform a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support accurate diagnosis and patient care across clinical areas, while delivering a compassionate patient experience.

You will work closely with radiologists, consultants, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality imaging services, maintain equipment, participate in audits, and contribute to service

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of ultrasound protocols, techniques, and safety standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ultrasound examinations, including: abdominal imaging, gynecological and early pregnancy scans, small parts imaging, musculoskeletal scans (where competent), obstetric imaging (if applicable).
• Accurately document and report findings to the clinical team, highlighting any urgent results.
• Provide clear explanations and reassurance to patients during procedures.
• Maintain and calibrate ultrasound equipment to ensure quality and safety standards.
• Participate in audits, clinical governance, and service improvement initiatives.
• Support the training and mentorship of junior staff and students where applicable.
