Job Role: General Supervisor

Location: HMP Erlestoke, Erlestoke House, Devizes, SN10 5TU

Salary: £34,931.68 per annum

Contract: Permanent – 39 hrs per week, Monday to Friday

Holidays: 25 days per year plus Bank Holidays

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated General Supervisor to join our team at HMP Erlestoke, an adult male prison. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, you will work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues – plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, administrators – to provide a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

As a General Supervisor you will:

• Lead and supervise the Facilities Maintenance Team in the day‑to‑day operations.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and organisational policies, including health and safety.
• Coordinate maintenance activities across the prison to minimise disruption.
• Monitor and report on the condition of the prison’s facilities.
• Support continuous improvement and rehabilitation initiatives within the environment.

Qualifications

• Previous recognised experience and supervisory skills in the facilities management service
• Experience of compliance
• Knowledge of relevant health & safety requirements
• Relevant professional qualifications (facilities management / project management)
• Good health & safety knowledge
