A healthcare provider specializing in secure environments is seeking a General Practitioner for HMP Peterborough. The role involves providing comprehensive GP services, including consultations, chronic disease management, and conducting cervical screenings. As a GP in a prison setting, you’ll play a vital role in improving health outcomes for individuals who may have complex health and social care needs. Your work will help reduce health inequalities and ensure continuity of care in a challenging but rewarding environment.

Provide full GP services including consultations, clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and referrals.
Conduct cervical screening (smear tests) in accordance with NHS guidelines and ensure appropriate follow‑up and referral where necessary.
Manage chronic diseases, acute presentations, and mental health conditions.
Contribute to the management of substance misuse and support detox pathways.
Work collaboratively with nursing staff, mental health professionals, pharmacists, and external healthcare providers.
Participate in clinical audits, risk assessments, and safeguarding processes.
Maintain comprehensive clinical records using the prison’s electronic health record system.
Take part in clinical governance activities and support continuous quality improvement.
