Job summary

PHL Group in Sandwell is seeking an experienced Clinical Lead GP to provide clinical leadership across the Sandwell Urgent Care Centre, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care and governance across the service.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and motivatedClinical Lead GPto join ourSandwell Urgent Care Centreand provide clinical leadership across the service.

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity for a GP who combinesstrong clinical expertise with leadership, governance and quality improvement experience. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality patient care, while supporting and developing the wider clinical team.

Working closely with the Service Manager, Medical Director, Clinical Quality & Governance Team and other clinical leads, you will provide visible clinical leadership and assurance across the service.

Key Responsibilities

As Clinical Lead GP, you will:

  • Provide high-quality clinical consultations and assessment of patients presenting to the Urgent Care Centre.
  • Provide clinical leadership, advice and support to GPs and other clinical colleagues.
  • Provide clinical management, supervision and support to the clinical team.
  • Lead on clinical quality assurance, including consultation audits, annual appraisals and clinical performance.
  • Support the service to achieve itsKPIs and national service specifications.
  • Lead and contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement projects and clinical standard setting.
  • Identify areas of clinical risk and work with relevant teams to develop appropriate mitigation plans.
  • Support the investigation and management of clinical incidents, complaints and escalations.
  • Work closely with the Safeguarding Lead to ensure excellent safeguarding practice across the service.
  • Support compliance withCQC requirements, clinical governance standards and NHS policies.
  • Provide clinical assurance to the Medical Director regarding clinical safety, quality and performance.
  • Support recruitment of GPs, including reviewing applications, participating in interviews and supporting decisions around locum clinicians.
  • Work with the resourcing team when reviewing applicants with previous/current medical legal claims or GMC investigations.
  • Work collaboratively with other clinical leads to provide cross-site clinical cover where required.
  • Undertake clinical and administrative responsibilities appropriate to the seniority of the role.
Clinical Responsibilities

You will be expected to make autonomous professional decisions regarding patient presentations, including:

  • Assessing, diagnosing and managing acute primary care presentations.
  • Providing appropriate treatment, advice, counselling and health education.
  • Maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
  • Ensuring appropriate safeguarding referrals and documentation.
  • Collecting and contributing to data for audit and quality improvement.
  • Supporting accurate patient record summarisation and clinical coding.
  • Identifying and escalating issues relating to clinical quality, safety and risk.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and practice through continuing professional development and lifelong learning.
About You

We are looking for afully qualified GP with proven experience in primary care and a strong interest in clinical leadership, governance and service improvement.

Essential Qualifications & Registration

You will need:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Full registration with theGMCand a licence to practise.
  • Completion of GP training / CCT (JCPTGP / PMETB or equivalent).
  • Inclusion on the relevantMedical Performers List, with no conditions or restrictions preventing you from undertaking the role.
  • MRCGP or equivalent.
  • Evidence of ongoing personal and professional development.
  • Ability to successfully complete anEnhanced DBS check.
