Gwrych Medical Centre in Abergele, North Wales, is seeking a Salaried GP for 6-8 sessions per week.

Join our highly motivated, well‑organised, 10‑Partner GP and FY2 Training Practice with a list size of 16,500. We are dedicated to high‑quality patient care and fostering a genuinely inclusive and supportive environment for our team.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will help us to deliver a high quality of patient care to our patient list and become a valued member of our professional and supportive practice team.

The role involves managing a caseload and dealing with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

The successful candidate will undertake a variety of duties including:

  • Consultations: Surgery consultations (face‑to‑face and telephone) and queries in our main branch in Abergele and some sessions at our branch surgery in Llanfairtalhaiarn.

  • Home Visits: Undertaking patient home visits as required by the practice rota.

  • Administration: Reviewing pathology results, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, and dealing with paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

  • Clinical Autonomy: Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self‑referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

  • Disease Management: Screening patients for disease risk factors, developing care plans for health in line with current practice protocols, and providing health education.

  • Prescribing: Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.

  • Documentation: Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards using Emisweb.

Quality, Development, and Governance

Integral to the responsibilities of the post are the following requirements, ensuring professional standards and compliance:

  • Standards: To ensure the provision of a first‑class clinical service and to conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within Gwrych Medical Centre parameters.

  • Compliance: To undertake all work in accordance with practice procedures and operating policies, and to be familiar with and actively promote adherence to the regulatory framework including NICE and National Service Framework Guidance.

  • Training Role: Option to contribute to the supportive and learning environment as a member of a GP and FY2 Training Practice.

  • Personal Development: To participate in the National GP Annual Appraisal process and undertake revalidation when appropriate.

  • Safety: To work actively to reduce unintended harm to patients and adhere to the Health Boards Clinical Incident Policy.

  • Confidentiality: To observe and maintain strict confidentiality of personal information relating to patients and staff.

  • Health and Safety: To have a general duty of care for their own health, safety and wellbeing and that of work colleagues, visitors and patients.

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration

  • UK Driving Licence (for home visits and to access our branch surgery)
Experience
  • Experience of working within a UK primary care setting (this includes GP training)
  • Ability to use EmisWeb system (or willingness to learn)
