You will help them to stay well and promote healthy lifestyles whilst also assessing, screening, and treating people from small children to the elderly.
We are looking for a General Practice Nurse to join our dynamic forward‑thinking team. You must hold a valid NMC PIN and already be a registered general nurse. We are particularly interested in applicants with an interest in chronic disease management.

We are a large, friendly practice in the thriving community of Burton Latimer, a small town just a few miles outside of Kettering. We are a 6 GP partnership with a list size of over 14,000 patients.

Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Work as part of the practice multidisciplinary team delivering care which will include ECGs, pessary changes, dressings, blood tests, suture removal, coil removal, leg ulcer management, offer contraceptive advice, cervical smears, immunisations, flu and COVID vaccinations.
- Manage patients with learning disabilities and carry out annual reviews.
- Ensure clinical practice is safe and effective, remains within boundaries of competence and acknowledges limitations.
- Promote health and wellbeing through health promotion, health education and therapeutic communication.
- Actively participate in achieving QOF targets and carrying out long‑term condition reviews.
- Provide concise, timely documentation in the clinical system.
- Participate in the local COVID‑19 immunisation programme.
- Be flexible to the needs of the service in an ever‑changing healthcare environment.
- Manage own workload in general practice, respond effectively to patient need while prioritising workload.
Administration and Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
- Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patient’s notes.
- Maintain the clinical computer system, record accurate details using templates where appropriate.
- Complete all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice.
- Collect and maintain statistical information required for regular and ad‑hoc reports and audit.
- Attend and participate in practice meetings as required.
- Participate in practice audits.
Training and Personal Development
- Actively promote the workplace as a good learning environment, encouraging everyone to learn from each other and from external good practice.
- Training requirements will be monitored by yearly appraisal and will be in accordance with practice requirements. Personal development will be encouraged and supported by the practice.
- Maintain continued education by attending courses and study days as deemed useful or necessary for professional development, ensuring revalidation requirements are met.
- Provide full training if the role expands to include additional responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain a Personal Learning Plan.
Liaison
- Work with Kettering and South West Rural Primary Care Network (PCN) staff including social prescribers, clinical pharmacists, physiotherapists and the PCN manager.
- Collaborate with reception and office staff to ensure smooth running of the practice.
- Liaise and refer to secondary care where deemed necessary.
Meetings
- Attend and contribute to various practice meetings as requested.
Confidentiality
- Respect patients’ privacy, maintaining strict confidentiality of all sensitive information gathered in the course of treatment.
- Maintain confidentiality of information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, and the practice’s business activities.
- Disclose such information only to authorised persons in accordance with practice policies and procedures.

- Manage own and others’ health and safety and infection control as defined in the practice policy.
- Use personal security systems according to guidelines.

- Correctly manage specimen processes, including collection, labelling, handling, storage and transport.

Essential
- Registered Nurse.
- Experience in general practice or awareness of the role of a general practice nurse.
- Experience of chronic disease management (including diabetes and respiratory).
