A healthcare organization in the UK is seeking a General Practice Assistant to support GPs and enhance patient care. The role involves varied administrative duties, excellent communication skills are required, and experience in health or social care is preferred. As one of our General Practice Assistants, you will be responsiblefor supporting the practice in delivering excellent patient care by effectivelyproviding direct administrative support to our GPs.
We are currently seeking to recruit an additional General PracticeAssistant to join the Patient Services Team. Working alongside our existingGeneral Practice Assistants, supporting all our GPs with the administrativeaspects and duties of their roles as, where and when they require it.

Our successful candidate will have a busy and varied roleworking closely with our GPs and providing patient support. Acting as a keypoint of contact for GPs, patients and the other clinical and non-clinicalteams within Holderness Health.
You will have excellent communication and negotiation skills andbe confident managing your own workload. Our ideal candidate will haveexperience of working in health or social care setting and a deepunderstanding of patient care needs; however, we are also interested inhearing from people from a wide range of backgrounds who can demonstratesound administrative skills and experience of delivering high qualitycustomer or patient care.
Contact with patients is predominately via telephone, thereforeyou must possess an excellent telephone manner.
We are a large rural practice with approximately 34,000 patients. As a single-practice Primary Care Network, we have a wonderful opportunity to transform care for our patients. We operate from 7 locations across Holderness, and you must also be willing to travel between sites as necessary.

Job Description and Responsibilities:
As one of our General Practice Assistants, you will beresponsible for supporting the practice in delivering excellent patient care byeffectively providing direct administrative support to our GPs.
Main Duties
Complete patient-related tasks assigned to you by a GP.
Co-ordinate general correspondence on behalf of assigned GPs.
Assist the GPs in completing basic non-clinical and clinicalforms; by entering core elements for the GP to approve and sign.
File blood results for assigned GPs, working to an agreedprotocol.
Run daily searches to identify and action appropriatelylaboratory reports; contacting patients with the GPs filed actions, requestsand comments.
Monitor GP buddy groups to ensure that tasks, bloods, referralsetc. are all up to date including during periods of holiday.
Code patient data and ensure accurate recording of informationin the patient record.
Liaison with Other Agencies
Complete online referrals of patients to other providers (e.g.hospital consultants) at the request of the GP.
Help GPs liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting anotherhealth professional on the phone to ask for advice or arrange admission withthe GP can continue with their consultation(s).
Meetings
Support GP meetings with preparing agendas, taking minutes andmaintaining action trackers (e.g. GP Lead Role Meeting, Clinical Meeting,Clinical Quality Meeting etc.).
Arrange appointments, tests and follow up appointments forpatients.
Reschedule GP appointments/clinics as required e.g. as a resultof GP sickness absence.
Improve attendance and reduce frequency of patientnon-attendance.
Planning and Diary Management
Make best use of GP time by effective scheduling of follow upappointments, palliative care home visits etc.
Manage process for future patient recalls e.g. when a patientneeds to have a follow-up scan after a period of time.
Quality Improvement
Provide administrative support to GPs in achieving key qualitytargets (Quality Outcomes Framework, Investment & Impact Fund, and PrimaryCare Network Direct Enhanced Service).
Support audit and quality improvement activity for assigned GPs.
Undertake projects to collect and improve the quality ofinformation held with regard to patients e.g. preferred means of communication.
Obtain history and basic readings for patients at the request ofthe GP.
Explain treatment procedures to patients.
Manage effective communications with patients on behalf ofassigned GPs (text messaging, calling etc.).
Support the development and implementation of projects andinitiatives aimed at improving care for patients.
Identify and address safeguarding concerns.
Identify carers of patients to ensure that they are coded anddirected internally or externally for appropriate support.
Team Working
Provide support to other teams within the practice to ensurethat quality patient care is always prioritised.
Reporting
Maintain effective records of activity and produce reports asrequired.
Ensure personal workplan is up to date.
Provide any agreed performance/activity data.
