Role Overview

Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient high quality portering service, meeting work schedules and required ad hoc response times including emergency responses.
  • Transport patients, specimens, goods, blood products, medical gases, and equipment around the site.
  • Undertake all urgent adhoc and scheduled tasks using the correct equipment within the required response times and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls e.g. cardiac arrest, fire, lift release etc in accordance with Trust procedures.
  • Undertake all portering tasks as requested by supervisors and managers.
  • Ensure the transportation equipment is kept clean and in working order, reporting any defects to the Supervisor/Manager for quick rectification.
  • Transport patients per Departmental and Trust procedures with due regard to dignity and respect.
  • Move deceased patients to the Mortuary from wards and prepare deceased patients for viewing out of hours as required.
  • Undertake duties in a courteous, sympathetic manner with due regard to privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
