This is a permanent role which will give you a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and time to plan your future career. The post holder will be based on one of a number of medical speciality wards and may rotate between these areas to meet the staffing needs of the service and to allow enhanced training opportunities.

Duties and opportunities include:

  • Acute inpatient care of patients with general medical pathology, some with renal disease
  • Supporting consultant‑led ward rounds with associated learning opportunities
  • Liaison with allied clinical specialties and support junior colleagues
  • Opportunity to attend and contribute towards junior doctor teaching, gain feedback and develop your teaching and presentation skills
  • Opportunity to take part in audit and quality improvement work with a view to regional and national presentation, with consultant‑level support and guidance where necessary
  • Opportunity to attend clinic and gain experience caring for patients on dialysis and after transplantation
  • Contribute towards evening, weekend and night‑time working (1:14)

Please see full job description and personal specification for details.

In the course of your work the job holder liaises with nursing, professional and technical, social work and administrative staff.

You will need to be flexible and up for a challenge, working within a fast‑paced environment, with likeminded people and having the benefit of being supported by a fabulous team. You may be redeployed to alternative medical wards at times of increased staffing pressure; this should be seen as an opportunity to gain different skills and valuable experience.
