Job summary

The Ellison Institute of Technology (EIT) is seeking a General Manager to lead The Eagle & Child pub, café, restaurant and bar as it opens in July 2027. You will oversee daily operations, guest experiences, team performance, and financial management, balancing a strong floor presence with strategic oversight alongside the Executive Chef and senior leadership.

This is a senior leadership role requiring a proven record in premium hospitality, with budgets and labour management.

Qualifications

• Significant management experience within premium hospitality or high-end food & beverage operations.
• Commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality and guest experiences.
• Experience working with chefs and culinary teams to develop offerings.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop high-performing teams.
• Strong commercial acumen with budgets, labour, stock and financial performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operation of The Eagle & Child across all food & beverage departments.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences and exceed customer expectations.
• Manage and develop a high-performing team with a culture of pride and service excellence.
• Own financial performance: budgets, forecasting, stock control, labour and profitability.
• Collaborate with Executive Chef to shape and evolve food & beverage offerings.
• Ensure standards across food, drink and service are consistently high.
• Oversee recruitment, induction, training and performance management.
• Maintain safe, compliant working environment per H&S & food hygiene.
