General Manager Medical Directors Office

We're looking for an ambitious and influential General Manager to join the Office of the Medical Director and help shape high quality patient care and corporate performance across one of the UK's leading academic health science centres.

In this senior role, you'll provide operational and strategic leadership across a large, complex division, driving performance, governance, financial delivery and service improvement. You'll work closely with Medical Directors, divisional teams and system partners to support Trust wide priorities and lead high impact programmes across the Acute Provider Collaborative.

With a portfolio that includes oversight of medical education, you will help ensure our training environments remain excellent and future focused -- though prior experience in education is beneficial, it's not essential.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Brings significant senior management experience in healthcare
  • Excels in strategic planning, financial management and complex performance delivery
  • Can build strong relationships and influence at executive and system level
  • Leads with integrity, collaboration and a commitment to improvement
  • Join us and play a pivotal role in shaping outstanding care, innovation and the future clinical workforce at Imperial.
Main duties of the job
  • Drive the operational performance of a large, complex corporate Division. Supporting the delivery of high quality patient care, clinical governance, patient safety, clinical quality, and delivery of financial targets.
  • Have joint responsibility with other General Managers in the division and wider members of the Divisional management team for driving forward divisional wide programmes of work and service direction.
  • Have responsibility for driving forward directorate and trust wide programmes of work in portfolio areas.
  • Work closely with the Chief of Staff and Medical Directors to shape and implement the corporate objectives for the Trust, making these part of annual objectives and business plans to ensure delivery.
  • Ensure that the necessary corporate governance arrangements are in place across the Division in line with requirements of a Trust and assure that the arrangements in clinical divisions meet these requirements for portfolio areas.
  • Have an external focus to facilitate greater working across the Healthcare Community e.g. with ICBs, local authorities and Imperial College, representing the Trust at a senior level within the NHS, North West London and community and with partner organisations. This will be most obvious in the work across the Acute Provider Collaborative where the post holder will be responsible for project management of an agreed improvement priority that they will deliver across the collaborative.
