Position Overview
As General Manager – Commercial you will report directly to the CEO and work closely with the Board to shape commercial strategy that drives sustainable growth across all business units. You will lead key functions including procurement optimisation, contract management governance, legal compliance oversight, business risk standardisation and M&A activities that support Mayfield’s ambitious growth agenda.
Your leadership will focus on embedding best‑in‑class commercial practices while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, sustainability, diversity & inclusion (DEI), equity and continuous improvement across all levels of the organisation.
In your first 12 months:
- Establish a company‑wide strategic sourcing framework that delivers measurable cost savings while aligning with ESG principles.
- Develop standardised business risk management frameworks that enhance transparency and compliance across all operations.
- Lead commercial due diligence efforts for potential acquisitions while supporting seamless integration post‑deal closure.
- Build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to strengthen supply chain resilience while driving responsible sourcing practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CEO and Board to define enterprise‑wide commercial strategies that align with Mayfield’s growth pipeline and operating model maturity goals.
- Optimise procurement processes by implementing strategic sourcing frameworks that deliver value creation while mitigating risks across supplier relationships.
- Standardise business risk management practices by introducing audit controls aligned with corporate objectives to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Lead M&A activities including deal structuring, commercial due diligence efforts, integration planning and post‑acquisition alignment across subsidiaries.
- Champion sustainable supply chain practices aligned with environmental, social and governance (ESG) principles while fostering transparency in supplier selection processes.
- Represent Mayfield externally by building strong relationships with customers, regulatory bodies, suppliers and industry groups while strengthening our presence in key forums.
About you
- Proven experience in senior commercial management or head of operations roles within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Strong legal background (commercial/company/corporate law highly desirable).
- Experience as a company secretary is advantageous but not essential.
- Expertise in contract negotiation and management governance frameworks alongside risk standardisation practices aligned with corporate objectives.
- Demonstrated success leading M&A activities, including due diligence efforts and integration planning for high‑impact acquisitions.
- Deep understanding of sustainable supply chain management practices aligned with ESG principles coupled with exceptional stakeholder engagement capabilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or Finance‑related fields.
- Legal qualifications or experience as a commercial/company/corporate lawyer highly desirable; experience managing M&A activities is preferred.
