Job Purpose

Due to company growth, we are looking for an additional engineer to carry out planned and reactive non‑technical maintenance across a number of site locations within a specified region.

Key Accountabilities
- Develop a good working relationship with City and ASDA colleagues.
- Read and comply with updated company briefing documents as required.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is completed accurately and to specified procedures.
- Advise the GSM of any repair and maintenance issues that may affect the smooth running of the store.
- Complete all necessary PPMs and remedial tasks, ensuring legal compliance.
- Respond promptly and positively to service call requests from the helpdesk and carry out repairs as necessary.
- Prioritise and complete minor maintenance and repair work to agreed timescales.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are available and serviceable at all times.
- Order spare parts as required and liaise with the GSM to minimise disruption.
- Assist Multi‑Skilled Technicians when requested.
- Complete all mandatory training programmes and e‑learning modules.
- Comply with the company Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.
- Work with colleagues to maintain quality standards at all times.
- Monitor and update the Mercury system with live job updates.
- Identify non‑repairable issues, advise your line manager, and recommend suitable alternatives.
- Liaise with project teams on store alterations and modernisations.
- Carry out specific surveys and complete reports as required.
- Perform HVAC maintenance tasks such as air filter replacement, belt replacement, lubrication, and coil cleaning.
- Maintain plumbing and drainage systems and carry out sanitaryware maintenance.
- Ensure car parks, bollards and other site assets are safe and maintained.
- Ensure all systems are shut down and restarted in line with safe working practices.
- Comply with any other reasonable request from your line manager.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- GCSE standard education.
- Building trade qualification (NVQ/City & Guilds).
- Previous experience in general building repairs.
- Ability to maintain/repair a range of building fabrics, equipment and ground works to recognised standards.
- PC/iPad literate – Apple and Android.
- Work with minimum supervision.
- Perform general plumbing and sanitaryware maintenance and repairs.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem‑solving ability.
- Positive customer‑focused attitude.
- Helpful and friendly manner.
- Self‑motivated.
- Ability to work at heights and use steps and ladders.
- Current driving licence.
- Flexible work approach.
- Willingness to work flexible hours.
Desirable
- Time‑served apprenticeship with City and Guilds qualification.
- Course in water byelaws.
- L8 Legionella Control.
- Retail experience.
