Job summary

General Maintenance Operative – Electrical Bias

Barnsley – £32,000‑£34,000 per annum, depending on experience.

  • Location: BHF Priory Centre, Barnsley with responsibility across the wider estate.
  • Salary: £32,000‑£34,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
  • Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, worked across 4 or 5 days on a rolling roster.
  • Contract: Permanent, Full‑time.
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs, and minor electrical works across all buildings.
  • Responding to reactive maintenance issues and supporting planned preventative maintenance.
  • Ensuring electrical systems and equipment are safe, compliant, and functioning effectively.
  • Completing building checks, inspections, and compliance‑related tasks.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors to ensure works are completed to specification.
  • Keeping accurate maintenance records and reporting any safety concerns or property issues.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in a maintenance or building services role, with an electrical bias.
  • Good understanding of electrical safety and practical knowledge of repairs or installations.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and carry out general maintenance across multiple trades.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety and building compliance.
  • Someone proactive, organised, and able to manage their workload across multiple sites.
  • A full driving licence is beneficial due to travel across the estate.
