Job description

Role Purpose

As a Stores, Delivery Driver and General Labourer your key responsibility is to manage the stores area, housekeeping duties and ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained and an efficient service is provided for the site teams. To oversee material delivery ensuring goods are accurate against the order and delivery is entered correctly on the relevant systems. As a General Labourer your key responsibility will be to support site labouring activities as directed by the Site Managers. As a Delivery Driver your key responsibility will be to deliver and collect items to and from site. To follow and actively promote the STAR dynamic risk assessment and to be empowered to stop work should unsafe circumstances arise. Promote and demonstrate the Bridges’ values when dealing with peers, staff, customer and clients. To act in a professional manner and be an ambassador for Bridges, supporting the business goals and maintaining the company’s positive reputation

Our projects range in value from £5k to £15m, taking the role of Principal Contractor and Principal Designer on various schemes, and supporting our valued Tier 1 contractor clients in a subcontractor and off-site manufacturing capacity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Stores Management

  • Efficiently manage the regional stores area, ensuring it is clean, organised, and secure.
  • Receive and check deliveries against delivery notes and log accurately in the relevant systems.
  • Liaise with Procurement to maintain appropriate stock and PPE levels.
  • Issue and track tools and materials to site teams, maintaining accurate allocation records.
  • Assist with returns, collections, and inventory organisation.
  • Create labels and process stores requisition forms.

2. General Labouring

  • Support site teams by loading/unloading, lifting and transporting materials.
  • Assist with basic installation tasks under supervision of the M&E team.
  • Prepare and clean up site areas, ensuring safe and tidy workspaces.
  • Wear and promote the correct use of PPE, adhering to all health and safety procedures.

3. Deliveries and Collections

  • Transport materials, tools, and equipment between office, site, and suppliers.
  • Manage the collection and safe disposal or recycling of waste materials.
  • Complete relevant waste transfer documentation and ensure legal compliance.
  • Liaise with Procurement regarding off-hiring of plant and equipment.

4. Calibration Handling

  • Deliver and collect items for calibration from suppliers.
  • Maintain calibration records and update tracking systems.
  • Issue newly calibrated items to staff and ensure compliance with calibration schedules.

5. Fleet Support

  • Conduct van inspections and report any defects or issues.
  • Coordinate MOTs and servicing schedules with drivers.
  • Clean company vehicles or arrange valeting services.

6. Facilities Support

  • Hold a key to the premises and follow proper locking-up procedures.
  • Conduct monthly fire extinguisher checks and act as Fire Marshal.
  • Ensure building security and site safety measures are followed.

7. Administration

  • Support with printing, laminating, and producing signage for site use.
  • Assist the regional team with general administrative tasks as required.

8. Information Security

  • Stay vigilant for suspicious IT or physical security activities.
  • Report anomalies such as phishing emails or unescorted visitors to IT.
  • Performance Measures
  • Accurate entry of delivery and stock data.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of minimum stock and PPE levels.
  • Stores and yard areas maintained to high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Prompt escalation of delivery and supply issues.
  • Secure access to buildings and storage facilities.
  • Timely and accurate processing of stores requisitions.
