Avanti Grange Secondary School is seeking a General Catering Assistant to join the catering team. You will support food preparation, meal packing and service, while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in kitchen and dining areas.

The role involves assisting with deliveries, stock and ensuring safe handling of all food. You will work with the Chef Manager and Front of House Manager to provide a welcoming service to pupils, staff and visitors, and you will follow all safety

• Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health & safety requirements.
• Ability to work unsupervised in a busy environment.
• Ability to follow strict instructions in a systematic and consistent manner.

Responsabilités

• Support kitchen and Front of House teams with food preparation, meal packing, service set-up and daily catering delivery.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene across kitchen, dining and Front of House areas, including cleaning equipment, waste management and crockery/cutlery readiness.
• Receive, handle, store and rotate deliveries and stock, ensure proper food handling and storage per safety requirements.
• Collaborate with Chef Manager, Front of House Manager and wider catering team to provide a professional, welcoming service for pupils, staff and visitors.
• Follow Health & Safety procedures including COSHH, HACCP, risk assessments, safe systems of work and report defects or near misses.

About The Role

We are seeking a General Catering Assistant to join the catering team at Avanti Grange Secondary School, supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of our daily food service. The role will involve assisting with food preparation, meal packing and service, maintaining clean and organised kitchen and dining areas, and ensuring that service areas are fully prepared for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will work closely with the wider catering team to ensure food and refreshments are prepared and served to a high standard, while helping to create a welcoming and positive dining experience across the school.

This is a varied, hands-on role where teamwork, reliability and attention to detail are important. You will contribute to the day-to-day running of the kitchen and Front of House areas, including supporting with deliveries and stock, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and ensuring that all food is handled safely and in line with relevant procedures.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will play an important role in providing a safe, efficient and professional catering service for the Avanti Grange school community.

What will you do?
