Qualifications

  • Experience in Fire Door Maintenance is essential.
  • Experience in carrying out Fire Extinguisher Maintenance is required.
  • Knowledge of Emergency Lighting checks and procedures is necessary.

Responsibilities

Job description
General Building Engineer – Permanent – HMP/YOI Styal

Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 4HR

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a permanent General Building Engineer in HMP/YOI Styal, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 4HR.

Standard hours of work: 39 per week, Saturday to Thursday 07:45 - 16:30; Friday 07:45 - 15:30. You will be required to work 1 in 4 weekends on a rota basis, with an additional allowance of 15% of basic salary.

What you will do
  • Undertake general tasks associated with security systems such as CCTV and alarm systems
  • Carry out monthly checks and tests of fire extinguisher equipment, with regular checks on fire hydrants and fire hoses
  • Complete RCD testing on a quarterly basis
  • Carry out checks on Misting Units
  • Undertake fire door maintenance activities
  • Conduct flushing and tap temperature tests as required by the water risk assessment
  • Undertake monthly and annual emergency lighting checks
  • Check and test smoke vents as required
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role
