Optimal Maintenance & Refurbishment, based in London, is seeking a general builder/subcontractor with a strong multi-trade background to undertake property repairs and refurbishments. You will quote accurately, win work, and deliver high-quality finishes on schedule.

You’ll work on a dynamic, field-based team, earning through labour splits and call-out rates, with opportunities for professional growth in a client-facing role that values reliability and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years experience in the construction trade.
• Proficient in electrical, plumbing, carpentry and joinery.
• Holder of a DBS certificate/check.
• Able to diagnose on-site repairs, source materials and maintain high standards.
• Reliable, with strong quoting and bid-won capability.
• Experience using a smartphone on-site for updates and quoting.

Responsibilities

• Complete refurbishment projects including kitchens, bathrooms and full house renovations.
• Conduct property inspections to identify maintenance requirements and assist accurate quoting.
• Perform scheduled repairs promptly to maximise earnings through completed jobs.
• Diagnose electrical, plumbing, carpentry issues and provide precise quotes.
• Utilise tools and equipment to execute works efficiently and profitably.
• Ensure health and safety compliance across all activities on site.
• Maintain records of work, materials and hours for efficient billing.
• Communicate progress updates to Optimal via CRM and support bids.

Requirements

The day-to-day role may include the following responsibilities:

• Completing refurbishment projects, including full kitchen and bathroom refurbishments, full house renevations, roofing works, garending and external works
• Conducting thorough property inspections to identify maintenance requirements and potential issues, ensuring accurate assessment for optimal quoting
• Performing scheduled repairs and refurbishments promptly and efficiently to maximise earning potential through increased job completion rates
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other maintenance-related problems with precision to provide accurate quotes and minimize material costs
• Utilising specialised tools and equipment to carry out works and installations effectively, enhancing efficiency and profitability on each job
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards during all maintenance activities, safeguarding against potential liabilities and preserving earnings
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance work, including job details, materials used, and hours worked, facilitating efficient billing processes, and maximising earnings transparency
• Communicating effectively with Optimal, providing updates on job progress through CRM system, and addressing any concerns or questions, fostering trust and facilitating successful quoting processes

Skills / Experience / Competence

Required

• With a minimum of 7 years of experience in the construction trade
• Proficient in basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and joinery skills
• Holder of a DBS Certificate/check
• Demonstrating skills in diagnosing and conducting on-site repairs, sourcing materials, and maintaining high standards of work
• Reliable and dedicated to delivering work of the highest standard consistently
• Ability to confidently quote and win work
• Proficient in using smartphone
• Have own van, tools and insurance
