Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a General Assistant to support busy kitchen operations in the Birmingham area. You will assist with food prep, keep the kitchen and catering equipment clean, and help receive deliveries, organise storage, and sometimes serve customers at events.

Prior kitchen exposure is valued, and a basic Catering/Food Handling certificate is a plus. The role requires good time management, strong organisation, and the ability to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• Must have the Right to Work in the UK.
• Commercial kitchen experience is valued but not essential.
• A basic Catering and Hospitality certificate such as Food Handling or equivalent is desirable but not essential as we can provide this.
• Excellent time management skills and can work under pressure.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Help with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and making sandwiches and salads.
• Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment (utensils, tableware, catering stations).
• Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries and organising food and supply storage areas.
• Serve food items to customers when required and possibly act as host/waiter during events.

• Be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area and equipment. This includes cleaning utensils, tableware, and catering stations
• Assist with receiving and unpacking all deliveries, ensuring that the food and supply storage areas are organised
• You will be required from time to time to serve food items to customers in accordance with the menu prepared by the Chefs. Our General Assistants may also act as a host/waiter when needed in events
