Job summary

83zero Ltd in Edinburgh is seeking an experienced Solution Architect for API-first platforms and Google Cloud Platform to shape the API Marketplace's architecture.

You will collaborate with product and engineering, define a technology roadmap, design scalable cloud-native solutions, and guide API security, governance and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Solution Architect in API-first, digital platform, marketplace or multi-tenant environments.
• Hands-on with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with GCP technologies: GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, Apigee.
• Strong RESTful API design, security, versioning and lifecycle management.
• Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, IBM API Connect or Azure API Management.
• Knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven design and domain-driven design.
• Understanding of hybrid cloud, CI/CD, cybersecurity, resilience and sustainability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to influence architectural strategy and recommendations.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect - API & GCP to join a growing technology team in Edinburgh.

You will play a key role in shaping the architecture and strategic evolution of an API Marketplace platform, working closely with product, engineering and business stakeholders. This is a great opportunity for an architect with strong API, cloud-native and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) experience to have a genuine influence on enterprise technology direction.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Skills & Experience

• Strong experience working as a Solution Architect within API-first, digital platform, marketplace or multi-tenant environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with GCP technologies such as GKE, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage and Apigee.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design, API security, versioning, lifecycle management and API gateways.
• Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee, Kong, IBM API Connect or Azure API Management.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture, microservices, event-driven architecture and domain-driven design.
• Understanding of hybrid cloud, CI/CD, cybersecurity, resilience and sustainability principles.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
