Job summary

Deloitte - Recruitment seeks a Google Cloud Platform Architect for a 6‑month contract role, primarily on-site in London or Glasgow. The position is Inside IR35 with a daily rate around £450 and an agreed contract rate, aiming to deliver cloud-native architectures and scalable systems across teams.

The role requires deep GCP expertise, Kubernetes, and CI/CD proficiency, plus strong leadership and communication skills to influence stakeholders and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience in production software development.
• Advanced hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability at scale.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures at enterprise scale.
• Experience designing, building, deploying, and operating production cloud-native workloads on Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Architects and executes complex software solutions, influencing architectural decisions across teams.
• Develops secure, high-quality production code; reviews and improves code across the team.
• Leads architectural design for cloud-native systems with RFCs, ADRs, and diagrams.
• Owns operational excellence by identifying failures, improving reliability and observability.
• Evaluates vendor/technology options and drives outcome-oriented assessments.
• Leads communities of practice to promote cloud-native best practices.
• Mentors junior engineers through code reviews and collaboration.
• Contributes to strategic initiatives shaping cloud platform standards and CI/CD maturity.
• Builds and operates resilient services on AWS in line with security requirements.
