The Group Chief Information Office (GCIO) COO function operates as the backbone of the GCIO organisation, taking ownership and accountability for all operational aspects to ensure a seamless running of the GCIO business to exceptionally high standards. Aligned to the overall HSBC business structure, focused on continuous improvement and simplification to support GCIO to a consistent high quality, GCIO COO acts as a key enabler to the firm’s ambition to ‘be the most trusted bank globally, putting customers at the heart of everything we do’.

This role sits within the Workforce Strategy and Management function of GCIO COO and will play a key part in shaping how we plan, manage and evolve our Global Technology workforce to meet business opportunities.

The Workforce Enablement Lead will support the design, delivery and coordination of employee engagement initiatives and activities to help create and shape an environment where technology talent can thrive and grow and ultimately fulfil on their career aspirations.

The role holder will work closely with the Head of Workforce Enablement and key stakeholders to implement engagement and retention strategies as well as learning, development and career management programmes to improve employee performance and satisfaction, enabling stronger business outcomes.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinating the GCIO Engagement Leads and partnering with key GCIO Communications and HR stakeholders to bring to life and progress the GCIO People Priorities agenda.
  • Assisting with the creation and delivery of a joined-up structured onboarding and orientation programme to support new hires including partnering closely with Emerging Talent to ensure a positive and engaging experience for GCIO grads, apprentices etc>Coordinating employee engagement initiatives for e.g., recognition, wellbeing, speak‑up etc to support our GCIO People Priorities agenda.
  • Partnering with and engaging the GCIO Inclusion Pillar Leads and ERGs to ensure a joined-up approach to our GCIO Inclusion agenda in support of our wider GCIO People Priorities.
  • Utilising insights from Snapshot Survey and other feedback loops to inform approach and assess progress and impact.
  • Maintaining clear and collaborative communication channels across teams, networks and stakeholders including promoting best practice approaches and adoption of approved processes to help ensure consistency and alignment.
  • Promoting a positive work environment through role‑modelling psychological safety, inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Coordinating the assessment of the current state of employee skills, knowledge gaps and areas where performance can be improved.
  • Supporting the implementation of learning and development programmes including clear career pathways to address development needs.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of learning, development and talent management processes and programmes across the bank.
  • Experience driving and supporting people transformation/engagement programmes within Technology environment.
  • Sound knowledge of communication and engagement tools, channels and platforms used across the bank.
  • Experience using and interpreting data to provide insights on engagement and performance.
  • Sound knowledge of communication and engagement tools, channels and platforms used across the bank.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and stakeholders.
  • Relationship‑building skills with the ability to foster trust and collaboration across teams.

This role is based in Sheffield and offers hybrid working.
