Job summary

Gateway Primary Free School invites applications for an Early Years Learning Support Assistant to join the Early Years provision. You will support holistic development via small group work and targeted intervention, writing observations to inform needs, and assisting with literacy, numeracy and behaviour support.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, Maths and English GCSEs at A-C, and strong ICT, organisation and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is essential.
• Maths and English GCSE grades A-C or equivalent.
• Ability to support literacy, numeracy and behaviour needs.
• Good organisation and strong interpersonal skills.
• Solid ICT knowledge and willingness to take initiative.

Responsibilities

• Support holistic development of youngest pupils through small groups and targeted intervention.
• Carry out and write observations to inform and evaluate a child’s needs.
• Identify groups or individuals who may be falling behind and adapt plans accordingly.
• Work flexibly and take direction from class teachers and Early Years Lead.

Gateway Primary Free School is part of the Gateway Learning Community [GLC] which is a partnership of one secondary academy and four primary academies located within Tilbury and Chadwell St Mary in the borough of Thurrock, to the east of London. We are looking to appoint a strong, enthusiastic, committed and creative classroom-based Early Years Learning Support Assistant to work within our Early Years provision. Successful candidates will be required to work flexibly taking direction from the class teachers and Early Years Lead in adapting and planning activities to take students' learning forward. Key responsibilities relate to supporting the holistic development of our youngest pupils through small group provision and targeted intervention. Our students' needs are at the core of our ethos and successful candidates will be required to support the emotional and social development of the young people they work with.

Candidates must be able to carry out and write up necessary observations to inform and evaluate the child's needs. They must be experienced classroom practitioners proactive in dealing with students and identifying groups or individuals who may be falling behind in their learning.

Candidates must be able to use their own initiative and will have the following:

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is essential;
• good standard of education; Maths and English GCSE grades A - C, or equivalent;
• can provide excellent classroom support in literacy, numeracy and behavioural needs;
• good organisation and inter-personal skills;
• good knowledge of ICT;
• be committed to high achievement from students and themselves.
