Job summary

4way Recruitment is recruiting a Gate, Barrier and Automatic Door Engineer in South London for a permanent, full-time role with a company vehicle. The engineer will service, repair and install automated access equipment across various sites in the UK, with travel and on-call responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with gates, barriers and automatic doors, strong fault-finding skills in mechanical/electrical/control systems, and good communication to liaise with customers

Qualifications

• Experience with automatic doors, gates or barriers.
• Strong practical knowledge of automated access equipment.
• Ability to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
• Excellent communication with customers and site reps.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer sites to investigate and resolve equipment faults.
• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
• Complete repair and installation works on automated access equipment.
• Work on gates, barriers, and automatic door systems.
• Identify mechanical, electrical and control-related issues.
• Carry out equipment checks, inspections and site assessments.
• Complete scheduled maintenance programmes.
• Ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.
• Keep service records up to date.
• Liaise with customers and site representatives.
• Follow company, quality and health & safety procedures.
• Provide out-of-hours support as part of callout arrangements.

4way Recruitment has partnered directly, with an established provider to secure a permanent Gate, Barrier and Automatic Door Engineer for their team.

The company delivers specialist engineering services across a broad range of properties and contracts throughout the UK. With continued demand for its services, they are looking to add an experienced engineer who can provide reliable technical support across a range of automated access systems.

Salary and Benefits

• Salary up to £48,000 depending on experience
• Company vehicle provided
• Paid travel after the first 30 minutes each way
• 23 days holiday plus bank holidays

• On-call rota

Key Responsibilities

• Attend customer sites to investigate and resolve equipment faults
• Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
• Complete repair and installation works on automated access equipment
• Work on a range of gates, barriers and automatic door systems
• Identify mechanical, electrical and control-related issues
• Carry out equipment checks, inspections and site assessments
• Complete scheduled maintenance programmes
• Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
• Keep service records and job documentation up to date
• Liaise professionally with customers and site representatives
• Follow relevant company, quality and health & safety procedures
• Provide out-of-hours support as part of the company's callout arrangements when required

Skills and Experience

• Previous experience within automatic doors, gates, barriers or related automation
• Strong practical knowledge of automated access equipment
• Multi-skilled experience covering more than one discipline would be advantageous
• ADSA or ADIA accreditation would be desirable
• Ideally 3+ years' experience within the industry
• Confident mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
• Good understanding of automation, controls and associated equipment
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working independently and managing a daily workload
• Reliable, organised and committed to delivering quality workmanship
