HomeServe is seeking a Gas Repair Engineer to diagnose and repair gas appliances in customers' homes in Ilford. You will perform boiler services, safety checks, and maintain heating systems, with a 40-hour week that includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

You will work in a field-based team with CCN1/CENWAT1/HTR1/CKR1 gas qualifications, a full UK driving licence, and strong customer-service skills. A company van, fuel card, tools, training, and protective PPE are provided.

Qualifications

• Must have valid gas qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1, CKR1).
• Experience repairing gas appliances and central heating systems.
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Strong customer service skills and ability to work independently on site.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults on boilers and central heating systems.
• Carry out repairs to restore heating and hot water.
• Carry out boiler services and safety checks.
• Complete safety checks ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Manage jobs independently while delivering excellent customer service.
• Represent HomeServe in customers' homes with professionalism.

About The Role

Join HomeServe as a Gas Repair Engineer and play a vital role in keeping our customers' homes running smoothly. Location: Ilford
Salary: £52,830 + £3,000 guaranteed bonus in your first year
Hours: You will average 40 hours per week (annualised hours - shorter hours in summer, longer in winter, with consistent pay). Includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What you'll be doing

As a Gas Repair Engineer, you'll be working in customers' homes diagnosing and repairing gas appliances and heating systems. Your day-to-day will include:

• Diagnosing faults on boilers and central heating systems
• Carrying out repairs to restore heating and hot water
• Carrying out boiler services
• Completing safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulations
• Managing jobs independently while delivering excellent customer service
• Representing HomeServe in customers' homes with professionalism and care

This is a field-based role where no two days are the same, giving you variety and autonomy in your work.

About You

What we're looking for:

• Valid gas qualifications: CCN1, CENWAT1, HTR1, & CKR1
• Experience repairing gas appliances and central heating systems

• Ability to work independently and solve problems on site
• A positive, proactive approach to your work

Training and support

We'll give you everything you need to succeed from day one:

• Week 1: Classroom-based induction Monday to Friday at our Walsall Head Office
• Week 2: On-the-job training alongside an experienced HomeServe Gas Repair Engineer (Where required, we will pay for your accommodation and meal allowance for your induction)
