Job Overview

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Gas Engineer to join a busy social housing maintenance contract, working through an agency for a reputable sub‑contractor. The role involves servicing, breakdowns, and repairs of domestic gas appliances in tenanted properties across York, North Yorkshire, and the East Coast.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repairs on domestic gas appliances (boilers, fires, cookers).
  • Diagnose faults and complete breakdown repairs efficiently and safely.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Gas Safe regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed using a PDA or job sheets.
  • Communicate effectively with tenants, housing officers, and the agency.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
Requirements
  • ACS qualifications including CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1.
  • Gas Safe registration (if self‑employed).
  • Proven experience in domestic gas servicing and repairs, ideally within social housing.
  • Full UK driving licence and own van (if not provided).
  • Own tools and calibrated flue gas analyser.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Desirable
  • Experience using PDA systems or mobile job management software.
  • Additional qualifications such as LPG or Unvented Cylinders.
  • Flexibility to cover emergency call‑outs or weekend work (if required).
