The right candidate will have strong leadership, gas compliance expertise and the ability to influence across senior stakeholders, with a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Lead gas compliance across Responsive Maintenance, Planned Works and FM nationwide.
• Delivrance of risk-based visits, audits and site inspections.
• Review gas certification, compliance docs and quality records.
• Monitor compliance performance and identify improvements.
• Ensure compliance with gas legislation and British Standards.
• Investigate gas incidents and support corrective actions.
• Drive gas safety policy implementation and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to operational teams and engineers.
• Build relationships with clients, teams and suppliers.
• Support accreditation and assurance programmes.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

National Gas Compliance Manager

National Role | Ideally Based in Wolverhampton

WPS is looking for an experienced and influential National Gas Compliance Manager to lead gas compliance across our national portfolio, supporting Responsive Maintenance, Planned Works and Facilities Management (FM) contracts.

This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for ensuring compliance with gas safety legislation, British Standards and internal governance requirements. You'll work closely with operational teams, supply chain partners and senior leaders to drive a culture of safety, quality and continuous improvement across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading gas compliance across Responsive Maintenance, Planned Works and FM workstreams nationwide.
• Delivering risk-based project visits, compliance audits and site inspections.
• Reviewing gas certification, compliance documentation and quality records.
• Monitoring compliance performance and identifying areas for improvement.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant gas legislation, regulations and British Standards.
• Investigating gas-related incidents and supporting corrective actions.
• Driving the implementation of gas safety policies, procedures and best practice.
• Providing technical advice, guidance and coaching to operational teams and engineers.
• Building strong relationships with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners.
• Supporting compliance accreditations and assurance programmes.
• Presenting compliance findings, trends and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

About You

You’ll have:

• Experience in a Gas Compliance Manager, Compliance Manager or similar senior compliance leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of gas safety legislation, British Standards and industry best practice.
• Experience delivering compliance audits and risk-based assurance programmes.
• A background within social housing, property services, maintenance, construction or FM.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Strong analytical, reporting and risk management capabilities.
• Experience leading and developing operational teams.
• A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Essential Qualifications

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 Mechanical Engineering (Plumbing).
• City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (Plumbing - Gas Option).
• Current domestic Gas Safe qualifications and relevant ACS accreditations.

Desirable

• Commercial Gas qualifications (COCN1, CDGA1, CIGA1, CORT1, ICPN1, TPCP1 and associated modules).
• Oil-fired heating qualifications.
• Additional compliance, mechanical or health and safety accreditations.
