Garment Technologist - The Role

This is an exciting role for a dynamic individual who would like to progress their career. You will be responsible for overseeing your own accounts and dealing directly with the customers.

Duties will include : -

Amending paper patterns & managing the fit process through to production. Which will comprise of specifications sheets and photos.

Must have a comprehensive understanding of pattern construction and balance.

Amending paper patterns according to fit comments. Ensuring fit and sizing is to customers requirements

Liaising with Customers, factories & Quality controllers & creating detailed tech packs

Maintain grading and sizing rules for each garment type.

Complete customer workbooks which comprise of full product details, fit comments & photos, these are submitted to customers prior to each fit.

Ensure all technical specs are clear and all measurement requests are consistent with the standard measurements.

Pre-fit all samples in house & prior to fitting with customers to ensure they conform to the size specifications, flagging any variances.

Work closely with design team, ensure samples conform to the designers vision and are of the correct quality.

Record all fit comments and update tech packs for the factories ensuring amendments are accurately reflected in future samples or production.

Collaborate with the team to solve specific make or construction queries where required.

Review and maintain consistency in sewing rules and discuss with the Production Manager.

Work closely with Gold Seal manager prior to gold seal samples being sent to customers

Garment Technologist - The Candidate

The company is a fast fashion manufacturer, and the successful candidate needs to have at least 3 years pattern experience this is essential and previous experience as a garment technician with a supplier

Ideally, with experience working on the supermarket accounts ie with George & Nutmeg is a plus.

Candidate needs to be confident, organised, and able to prioritise workload working with on Women's soft separates, (woven & jersey).

With strong attention to detail, with an eye for detail and quality.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work well as part of a team, and to the agreed critical paths

Grading is done externally; however, grading knowledge is required

Excellent fabric knowledge across woven and jersey from delicate to structured fabrics including sewing techniques.

Expertise in fitting garments, candidate will be required to advise customers in the fit meetings of the pattern amendments required in order to achieve customers required look.
